Not quite gone yet…

Yes, as Justin has said…to our surprise it looks like all of our stuff WILL fit in the 2 small pods!  Unbelievable!  Although, that was after getting rid of a lot of things including our honkin but beautiful armoir :(   Sad but true…we had to put it on craigslist for free!  Lucky little stinkers.

Before you know it we will be packed in the car, kayaks on roof, and ready for our new adventure.  Let’s all cross our fingers that I take to the standard trans quickly.  No more stall-outs!  I was told, “when in doubt, give it more gas.”  So, I might be buying Justin some new tires when we arrive in OR.  Better a peel-out than a stall right? :P

Hello friends and family!

Our ABF shipping containers arrived today!

Hello everyone!  As Sarah and I begin to head west, we want to make sure we keep in touch with all of our friends and family back east.  This blog is just one way that we hope to do that!  We’ll keep you informed each step of the way as we drive across the country and as we settle in to our new apartment, new lives, new jobs– you get the picture!

Today our ABF U-Pack shipping containers arrived– a very exciting day for us!  Although they didn’t arrive until about noon, every time I heard a truck drive from 8am on I ran out the door to see if it was ours— giddy like a school girl.  The ABF guy that dropped off the containers was very friendly (Sarah was impressed that he was wearing khakis while operating heavy machinery!)

I panicked this morning, fearing that our stuff wouldn’t fit in just two of the little 6′x7′x8′ pods, and so I called up and had a 3rd one delivered.  Fortunately, we don’t have to pay anything for the 3rd one if we don’t use it, and it looks like we might not have to.  We’ve got the pods about 70% loaded, and it looks like we might actually fit all of our worldly possessions into two of them.

Tomorrow we’ll finish loading them up, and then as soon as ABF comes and picks up our stuff we’ll hit the road— either tomorrow afternoon or Wednesday morning!  We’re so excited to start our journey— just a little more packing and we’re there.  Boo-ya!
